What are your initial thoughts on the question Tim posed: How do I want people to feel when they leave this interaction with me? How do you plan on employing this question?

Additional Content #2
We are working on recognizing and responding to your own emotions in ways that increase energy, connection, influence, and information. We want you to continue this process, using your feeling wheel and response exercises. For our Additional Content this week, please read the article linked below from Daniel Goleman, author of Primal Leadership, of which you read an excerpt during the Kickoff (printed in your session book). As you read, look for connections between this article and the work you’ve been doing so far both in Emotionally Mature and in the Who* Not What program overall. Goleman may use some different terminology, but if you look, you will see many alignments to the Who* Not What work you have been doing.
As you continue to recognize and respond to your own emotions, make a special note of “self-awareness” section. Hopefully it will motivate you to keep working with the Feelings Wheel. And the section on “self-regulation” can help you see how our response practices can help you do just that—self-regulate, which leads you to a “respond” rather than merely “react.”
We encourage you to spend some time with this article, maybe even read it in multiple sittings. Perhaps print it and highlight things that jump out to you before you have your Small Group meeting. There is a lot to dig into.
SMALL GROUP #4 QUESTIONS
Incorporate the questions below into your Small Group Discussion:
How have you been using your response practices? Which have been particularly helpful? Which have been challenging? Have you been able to remain consistent with the Feelings Wheel?
What connections did you make from the article, “What Makes a Leader?” with the work you’ve been doing on becoming more Emotionally Mature, and in general your work on the Who* Not What Journey? What else stood out to you from the article? Why do you that think those particular concepts or comments stood out to you?
After reading the quote above from the Center for Creative Leadership, what are your thoughts?

From Recognize to Recognize & Respond
Tim has some words to share as we transition from “recognize your own emotions” to “recognize and respond to your own emotions.” Listen at your choice of speed. In addition, please find the response practices (referenced in the audio note) and a link to the HBR article, “3 Ways to Better Understand Your Emotions” below. Complete these items in advance of your Small Group Meeting so that you are able to discuss using the small group questions below.
You can find the Audio Note transcript HERE.
